Pressed Flower Wedding Cake at Oaks Farm, Surrey

Pressed Flower Wedding Cake

For an instantly pretty wedding cake? Just add pressed flowers. No, seriously, I’m yet to see one that isn’t impressive. OK, so it’s not as simple as just adding them on (it takes hours), but the end result is stunning.

There is no doubt that the last couple of years have seen an increase in the use of pressed flowers, (check out the blog post all about them here). Even so, I am not yet bored of making them, and judging by my inbox, brides and grooms aren’t bored either!

I’m always excited to get stuck into another wedding cake, so I was excited about hearing the details of Tom and Flo’s wedding.

The Brief

I’m sure it’s the hopeless romantic in me, but one of my favourite parts of this job is getting to be part of your love story. The cake consultation allows me to find out meaningful moments, and learn your personalities. One thing was clear about Flo & Tom, they are a completely fun loving and laid back couple. Their requests were simple; a two tier cake with Autumnal pressed flowers. I always source my flowers from Floracle and Nurtured in Norfolk. I procured the most beautiful orange, red, burgundy and crimson flowers I could find to dress the cake with.

Oaks Farm Wedding Venue, Surrey

Flo & Tom’s wedding took place at the Oaks Farm, a charming boutique wedding venue in Surrey. Their Autumn theme really transformed the space into a wonderful oasis of rich colours. At almost every turn, there were bursts of their character shining through signage and photographs. There were photos of the happy couple throughout the years, and lovely signage pointing to the ambience of the day.

Oaks Farm has a lovely orangery on site, where the cakes usually go. On arrival, I found a wooden log cake stand with a customised engraved wooden knife set.

One very striking feature of the day was the sheer amount of love flowing from Flo & Tom’s friends and family. They finished off the wedding cake with some lovely cupcakes made by their friends.

Along with a testimonial, the one thing a wedding supplier wants to see from their couples are happy cake cutting shots! Here are a few from Tom & Flo, and oh how wonderfully happy do they look?

happy words

Thank you so much! Your cake was beyond stunning and matched our theme perfectly! Most importantly it’s the lightest, sweetest cake I’ve ever eaten. We had so many comments on the cake throughout the day, true artistry.

Until next time,
